Dr David Dickison performs knee surgery with a particular interest in arthroscopic, reconstructive and replacement procedures.

Dr David Dickison is a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon with over 25 years of expertise, particularly in managing complex knee conditions. His primary focus lies in knee surgery, with significant contributions to research and advancements in this field. He is proficient in knee replacement surgery, unicompartmental (half-knee) replacement, robotic surgery, and arthroscopic reconstructive procedures.

Dr Dickison is particularly renowned for his expertise in unicompartmental knee replacement and is actively researching optimal knee replacement component positioning and robotic knee surgery techniques. This enables him to tailor knee replacements to the specific needs of each patient. As a pioneer in robotic knee replacement, he has been instrumental in introducing the MAKO Robot to the Mater Hospital and serves as Australia's trainer for MAKO partial knee replacements.

After earning his medical degree from the University of New South Wales in 1982, Dr Dickison completed the Sydney Orthopaedic Training Scheme in 1989. He then pursued advanced training in England, the United States, and Australia before establishing his private practice in Castle Hill in 1993.

Dr Dickison is deeply committed to education and currently chairs the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Fellowships Committee, playing a key role in training future orthopaedic surgeons. He regularly presents his research both locally and internationally and remains actively involved in knee-related research programs, particularly focusing on knee replacement design.

A member of the Australian Knee Society, Dr Dickison also holds positions in international organisations such as ISAKOS and ISTA. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, chairs ASOS in NSW, and is the Director and Fellowship Supervisor at the Peninsular Orthopaedics Research Institute. His dedication to research and teaching ensures he remains at the forefront of knee surgery in Australia.
